Diamonds & Precious Stones
What If the Stone Is the Important Part?
Jewelry containing a significant natural diamond or precious gemstone may require a different level of review than jewelry being purchased primarily for its precious-metal content.
Gulf Coast primarily purchases significant diamonds and gemstones with recognized laboratory certification. For uncertified stones requiring professional identification, gemological services may be available for a fee.
When appropriate, we can also assist with sending a stone to an independent grading laboratory at the seller's or buyer's expense.
Gulf Coast does not purchase lab-grown diamonds.

You don't need to know which pieces matter before speaking with us. Bring the collection together and let our team review what you have.
This is particularly useful for inherited collections when family members have little information about what was originally purchased or why it was kept.

You do not need to clean or polish jewelry before bringing it to Gulf Coast. For older, estate or potentially collectible pieces, leaving the item as found is generally preferable.

Selling Jewelry to Gulf Coast
Common questions from customers considering selling jewelry, inherited pieces or an entire collection.
Do you buy broken jewelry?
Yes. Broken, damaged, tangled or incomplete precious-metal jewelry may still have value. Bring the piece as it is; it does not need to be repaired before you sell it.
Do you buy jewelry even if I don't know what karat it is?
Yes. You do not need to know the purity of your jewelry before bringing it in. Our team can examine the piece and determine what additional testing may be appropriate.
Do you buy jewelry without receipts or paperwork?
Yes. Paperwork can be useful, particularly for designer jewelry and certified diamonds or gemstones, but many pieces of jewelry arrive without their original receipts or documentation.
Do you buy diamond jewelry?
Yes. Gulf Coast considers jewelry containing natural diamonds. Significant diamonds are preferably accompanied by recognized laboratory certification. Gulf Coast does not purchase lab-grown diamonds.
Do you buy estate and vintage jewelry?
Yes. Estate, vintage and older jewelry can be considered as complete pieces when appropriate rather than being evaluated solely for precious-metal content.
Should I clean my jewelry before bringing it in?
No special cleaning is necessary. Bring the jewelry as you have it. This is especially appropriate for older, vintage or potentially collectible pieces.
Can I bring an entire jewelry box or inherited collection?
Yes. If you are unsure which pieces are important, you do not need to sort everything before visiting us. Larger groups and inherited collections can be reviewed together.
Is an old appraisal the amount my jewelry is worth today?
Not necessarily. Insurance and retail appraisals serve a different purpose from a resale or purchase offer. Current secondary-market demand, precious-metal markets and the characteristics of the individual piece all matter when considering a purchase.
Do I have to sell after you look at my jewelry?
No. If Gulf Coast makes an offer, the decision to sell remains yours.
