To celebrate the 35th anniversary release of the American Eagle coin, the US Mint has issued a second coin for 2021. The new coin comes with a brand new obverse, designed by Jennie Norris and features a zoomed image of the iconic eagle. The 2022 1/10 gold American Eagle  coin is the smallest gold coin offered currently by the US Mint and is an excellent choice for gold investors looking for fractional gold coins.

The 2022 1 oz Gold American Eagle marks the 37th anniversary of the coin and this year only the Jennie Norris design has been released.

Offered in 1/10 ozt, 1/4 ozt, 1/2 ozt, and 1 ozt denominations, these coins are guaranteed by the U.S. government to contain the stated amount of actual gold weight in troy ounces. By law, the gold must come from sources in America, alloyed with silver and copper to produce a more wear-resistant coin. The specific alloy is also referred to as crown gold. The actual gold fraction is .9167 or (22 karat). It is authorized by the United States Congress and is backed by the United States Mint for weight and content.

The obverse design features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the Capitol building in the left background.
